Pediatric Acne

Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous unit. It is characterized by comedones, papules, pustules, cysts, nodules and cicatricial lesions.

What are the Causes of Acne?

  • Hormones During infancy, acne lesions can be seen on the baby's skin with hormones passed from the mother. In adolescence, the changing hormone profile is the cause of acne.
  • Sweat and moisture
  • Irritants - materials that rub against the skin, such as clothing
  • Some medicines, such as corticosteroids, can cause acne
  • Acne treatment varies according to age and severity of existing acne lesions. Topical and oral treatments can be used. Cleansing the skin with appropriate dermocosmetic products, moisturizing and sun protection are important for treatment success.
