They are skin-colored-pink raised bumps with a depression in the middle, caused by a pox virus infection.
It is most often seen in children and young adults, but can occur in older patients. Molluscum infection is contagious. With scratching, it can be spread by contact with a different area of the person's body and the surrounding individuals.
How Is Molluscum Contagiosum Treated? Topically applied drugs, curette cleaning, cryotherapy and electrocauterization can be used in the treatment.
