Diaper Eczema

Diaper eczema is characterized by redness, red bumps and sometimes ulceration in the diaper area.

What Causes Diaper Eczema?

  • Irritation caused by urine and feces in the gland area
  • Candida diaper dermatitis is dermatitis caused by a yeast infection in the diaper area. It starts after irritation of the skin.
  • Seborrheic diaper dermatitis is a common, chronic skin condition that can affect the diaper area and other skin folds. Fold areas are often involved in seborrheic diaper eczema.

What should be considered in diaper eczema?

  • Keeping the diaper area clean and dry is the first step to prevent the disease.
  • Diapers should be changed frequently.
  • The diaper area should be left open to dry from time to time.
  • The use of soap and other harsh cleaners and wet wipes should be limited in the diaper area.
  • Diaper rash creams should be used regularly to strengthen the skin barrier.
